Bangladesh's Perspective

North Central Region

Probable impacts on North Central Region

  • Reduction in flow in Old Brahamaputra & Dhaleswari

  • Increasing period of cut-off from the perennial flow of mother channel Brahamaputra

  • Decrease in-flow to rivers around Dhaka e.g.Sitalakhya, Buriganga, Balu, Turag

  • As a result pollution will increase in these rivers

  • Reduction in ground water recharge

  • Gradual contamination of GW
