Implementing Agencies

One of the major program of the GoB in health sector is development of physical infrastructures like thana (now upazila) health complexes (THC), district hospitals, medical college hospitals and other specialized institutes and hospitals throughout the country

 

LGED

Primary health care services has been recognized as a key approach to attain �Health for All� by the year 2000 (HFA/2000 A.D.)

Bangladesh has accepted the goal and reiterated firm political and social commitment to achieve is based on the Primary Health Care Strategy declared in Alama-Ata in 1978

Health and Population Sector Program (HPSP) is being implemented to ensure universal access to primary health care services

DGHS under MHFW
HPSP - One of the main objective of the HPSP is to strengthen intersectoral population activities through other ministries and ensure women�s participation, improvement of GO-NGO and private sector relationship. DGHS under MHFW
A few initiatives have been taken to modernize the public hospitals  
Social service support i.e. Behavior change communication (BCC) is being provided under Essential Service Package (ESP) Program Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP)
Ministry of health and Family welfare will buildup its capacity strategic planning, programming and budgeting toward sector wide management

Sector wide approach will be implemented through annual operational programmes, budgets and reviews of performance and resources

Health education has been included in the curriculum of the school  
Development of indigenous system of medicine is being encouraged under public and private sectors, so that the system can play a complementary role to the modern system of medicine  
Under ESP necessary logistics for outreached activities especially in the rural area will be prioritized  
A number of environmental health research is being conducted NIPSOM
A number of research has been conducted on traditional knowledge of preventive and curative health practices Institute of Indigenous practice of Medicine
The government has accepted Primary Health Care (PHC) approaches to provide PHC services in community level-through community health workers,
