countries. The India Musokotwane Environment Resource Centre for Southern Africa The India Musokotwane Environment Resource
Centre for Southern Africa (IMERCSA) is a unit of the Southern
AfricanResearch and Documentation Centre (SARDC) -- an independent
institution involved in the collection, analysis and dissemination of
information about the southern African region, with offices in Harare,
Maputo and Dar es Salaam. SARDC's objective is to improve the base of
knowledge about regional economic, environmental, political, cultural and
social developments, and their implications, by making information
accessible to a wide range of regional and international audiences. SARDC
has been working in southern Africa since 1987 while IMERCSA was
established in 1994. The Natural Disaster Reference Database (NDRD) is a bibliographic database on
research, programs, and results which relate to the use of satellite
remote sensing for disaster mitgation.The NDRD was compiled and abstracted
from articles published since 1981. Major sources for the contents of this
database were the NASA RECON and ISI Current Contents database This
database focuses on the nexus of hazards and satellite remote sensing as
well as models and process studies through which these can be brought
together. Items of current and topical interest are also provided. The
NDRD is maintained by the Earth Sciences Directorate (Code 900), NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center located in Greenbelt, Maryland USA. A mirror
site for the NDRD is located at the National Research Institute for Earth
Sciences and Disaster Prevention (NIED) located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki,
Japan. The NDRD was jointly developed by NASA Goddard and NIED as part of
