Police estimate
more than 15,000 women and children are smuggled out of Bangladesh every

In Bangladesh, there are

Organized and Institutionalized Sexual Exploitation and Violence:
A large percentage of the 120,000 women in the garment industry suffer
sexual exploitation. There is no legislation protecting workers in the

ACID BURNS IN BANGLADESH
The distribution
is documented of burn injuries treated during the period December
1996/July 2000 in the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and
City Hospital (Bangladesh). Acid burns constituted 8.76% of all the burn
cases treated. In Bangladesh most such cases were of intentional origin
(attempts to disfigure the face, eyes, nose, genital organ). Young girls
were common victims. The incidence was greater in rural than in urban
areas.

In reality the condition of garments
workers in Bangladesh is very bad. There are some changes due to the
labour unrest, trade union movements, Social pressure and for the
pressure of developed countries consumers. But till now Living standard
of workers is unacceptable
