BIDS Contributions to Climate Research & Policy:

Bangladesh Institute of Development studies (BIDS) is one of the few organizations in Bangladesh which has carried out major research on Climate Change and its implication for the country. The following is a list of the works done in BIDS or by BIDS researchers.

  • Asia Least-cost Greenhouse Gas Abatement Strategy, ALGAS - 1998 (Funded by ADB) - PDF 117KB

Dr. M. Asaduzzaman, Research Director, BIDS has been team leader for the first two studies. He along with Mr. Kamar Ali of BIDS developed the Markel Energy Model for the ALGAS Study. In addition to his role as the member of the overall management team, Dr. M. Asaduzzaman edited along with others the Book "Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change for Bangladesh" published in 1999 by Kluwer Academic Publishers. Dr. M. Asaduzzaman was also one of the lead author of the second assessment report of the IPCC, Working Group III.
