Albert Einstein Gold Medal for
Education
As a stimulus for the Ecuadorian society to
not lose faith in the search for a better cultural educational
level and within the recognized framework of national strategies
to fulfill the Eight Millennium Goals of the United Nations,
UNESCO is making a special tribute to the Ecuadorian people
and government by giving the President of the Republic, Lucio
Guitierrez, the “Albert Einstein” Gold Medal for
the International Year of Physics.
UNESCO
highlights the accurate results from the Third National Advising
for Education in the 21st Century, which presented a national
conciliation with all educational actors and the Ecuadorian
society for greater vision and goals in the educational field
to coincide with the expectations of the international community
towards 2015.
This recognition is in the context that it is necessary for
nations to be prepared for the current globalization process
and competitivity without precedents, on a path towards what
is called the Information and Knowledge Society.
The “Albert Einstein” Gold Medal was created
to promote education and recognize technological and scientific
achievements that the society achieves day to day in their
search for better welfare and greater development of their
communities. In 2004, Professor Herwig Schopper, a well-known
scientific figure, was decorated with this medal for his unrelenting
work and collaboration with the international community for
scientific development and development of programmes with
UNESCO.
