SDNP organized a
Three Day Workshop On SDNP organized a three day long workshop at Cox’s Bazar, at its Chittagong Regional Node. It was a one of the series of workshop, which has been recently organized by SDNP at the regional stations among its various other activities. The workshop was intended to raise the ICT expertise at the grass root level stakeholders. Local journalists, academics, and NGO personalities attended the workshop. ADC (Revenue) of Cox’s Bazar was the chief guest at the inaugural session. On his speech he welcomed the activities of SDNP at Cox’s Bazar and wished that with the help of SDNP, development in IT sector of Cox’s Bazar district will be promoted. At the inaugural session Dr. Hakikur Rahman, Project Coordinator of SDNP, briefed the guests and participants about the activities of SDNP. On his speech he mentioned that SDNP is there to help enhancing the IT capacity of all “Not for Profit” organizations. SDNP has already established a cyber café at the regional node office at Cox’s Bazar. It will help the people of Cox’s Bazar to reach the internet facility.
During the workshop, there was good response from the local organizations. The first day of the workshop was for NGOs. Accordingly second was for Academics/Students and third day was for Journalists. The basics of Internet browsing and e-mail were discussed. The benefits of Internet browsing in respective fields were thoroughly discussed in the workshop. Participants were found to be very interactive and showed their high interest about these matters. As a whole, the workshop was successful.
After the workshop a Multimedia PC was donated to Cox's Bazar Red Crescent Society with Internet connectivity from Sustainable Development Networking Programme, SDNP Bangladesh. The PC with internet connection will help them use the information technology in disaster management and other regular activities. Before this workshop, SDNP organized similar workshops in the Barisal regional office at Barisal and Khulna regional office at Satkhira. |
