In order to outreach SDN’s activities in the regional stations, a regional node has been established at Chittagong. SDNP has selected the Chittagong University CU, as the possible host institute for setting up the regional node. With the launching of the regional node, the staff and students here will enjoy faster internet access through V-SAT.

The inauguration ceremony was jointly organized by Chittagong University (CU) and Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP). The node was formally opened by The Honorable Minister for Environment and Forest Mr. Tariq-ul-Islam, MP.
Honorable State Minister for Environment and Forest Mr. Jafrul Islam Chowdhury MP was also present in the occasion as Special guests. Inaugural Ceremony was chaired by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor A J M Nuruddin Chowdhury. Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor Mohammed Shamsuddin was also present as the Guest of Honor.

In the opening ceremony Dr. M Aminul Islam, Sustainable Development Adviser for UNDP, Bangladesh, Dr. M Asaduzzaman, Research Director BIDS & Project Director SDNP Bangladesh, Dr. Babar Kabir, Programme Coordinator of SEMP, Professor N S M Yahya, Dean, Faculty of Science, Chittagong University, Dr. Muhammad Shahadat Hossain, Chairman, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Chittagong University, Professor Abdun Noor, Chairman, ICT Committee, Chittagong University, Mr. M Idris Miyan, Registrar of Chittagong University addressed the session.
