An independent mission fielded by UNDP evaluated the performance and achievements of Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SDNP) Bangladesh, a UNDP funded project of Ministry of Environment and Forest, executed by Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). As a part of the process an evaluation workshop was held on 25 February 2003 at  the BIDS conference room.

 



Evaluation Workshop on SDNP Bangladesh

Mr. Raul Zambrano,   Mission Leader of SDNP from UNDP  Head Quarter  New York presented the keynote paper in the seminar. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Quazi Shahabuddin Director General of BIDS as the Chief Guest. Dr. M. Asaduzzaman Research Director, BIDS and Project Director, SDNP chaired the sessions and moderated by Dr. M. Hakikur Rahman, Project Coordinator of SDNP.

The workshop focused on the following issues in two sessions: 


>>
Contribution of SDNP initiatives and programmes towards national sustainable development programmes

>>
Contribution of SDNP in the development and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Bangladesh

>>
Effectiveness and efficiency of SDNP initiatives in providing its services to individual stakeholder/partner

>>
Recommendation on additional services that SDNP can provide in achieving its mandated objectives of providing access to adequate information sources to the practitioners and advocates of sustainable development

>> Role of UNDP for development of ICT sector.

>>
Availability and competitiveness of SDNP services in the market


The workshop was participated by different NGOs, government officials, Sub-Implementing Agencies (SIAs) of SEMP, academics, journalists, and other stakeholders of SDNP.
