The lead school of South-West region under SDNP School Programme was launched on March 13, 2003 at Badshah Faisal Institute, New Town, Jessore.

Inaugurating the lead school, Dr. M. Hakikur Rahman, Project Coordinator gave a brief session on the School Programme with its aims and objectives to the attended school teachers from the region. Teachers from ten schools (Jessore, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhinaidaha, Kustia, Satkhira, Meherpur and Chadanga) under this programme attended the session. Among them, teachers from six schools (Jessore, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhinaidaha, Satkhira) were given a two days training at ICMS, Dhaka during the handover of computers in August-September 2002.

As lead school the institute was given five computers, a printer and other accessories to act as a local ToT for that region. A local area network (LAN) was established by SDNP techniacal team and the participants were given a preliminary demonstration.

The inaugural session were also attended by Mr. SK Jamir Ahmed, past president of Jessore Press Club, Mr. Abdur Rahman Khan, Treasurer of National Press Club, Mr. Mohidul Islam Montu, Assistant Secretary General of Federal Journalist Union (excerpts from local dailies).
