| On the occasion of launching
ceremony of SDNP WAP Portal a Press Conference was held on
August 09, 2005 at the National Press Club conference room.
The conference was jointly organized by Sustainable Development
Networking Programme (SDNP) Bangladesh, a component of Sustainable
Environment Management Programme (SEMP) under Ministry of
Environment and Forest (MoEF) funded by United Nation Development
Programme (UNDP) implemented by Bangladesh Institute of Development
Studies (BIDS) and AKTEL.
The event was chaired by Dr.
M. Asaduzzaman, Project Director of SDNP. Dr. Bababr Kabir,
Coordinator of SEMP attended the session as the Guest of Honor.
From AKTEL Mr. Abraham Kaykobad, Senior Manager, Marketing
Division attended the session.
Mr. Shahriar
Rashid, Assistant General Manager, VAS, AKTEL presented a brief
on technical aspects of GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)
and various services by AKTEL. Dr. M. Hakikur Rahman, Project
Coordinator, SDNP briefed the session with the current services
provided by SDNP WAP Portal.
